Tablets, pills, capsules; Locked4Kids offers versatile packaging solutions which can be packed cost effectively in a carton/blister combination. Whether you need large volumes or small quantities, Locked4Kids offers a solution via highly automated packaging companies or via suppliers which are able to produce special or limited editions by hand.
Locked4Kids child resistant cartons have been developed for high speed automated production on standard pharmaceutical packaging equipment supplied by companies such as Romaco, Uhlmann, Pentapack, etc. Blister strips are loaded top down into a tray, which is then inserted into the child resistant carton. With Locked4Kids cartons, you can achieve the same packaging process speeds as with regular (non CR) cartons.
In Europe approximately 80% of all tablet and capsules are packed in blister strips and retail cartons. In the US, bottles still account for most medicine packaging. Both solutions face big disadvantages regarding child resistancy.
The European approach of packing medicines in child resistant cartons requires specialized and costly packaging systems. On the other hand, packing medicines in inexpensive bottles, the standard in the US, does not offer protection against moisture and contamination. Furtermore, neither production batch numbers, nor expiry dates can be communicated as desired.
Today, after years of development, Locked4Kids combines these approaches in one versatile packaging concept. The solution supports child resistance, protects product integrity and allows clear communication of product information.
Fact is that blisters guarantee the integrity of tablets and capsules much better than a bottle. Blisters protect the individual dose against moisture and contamination. Besides this, production batch numbers and expiry dates can be stamped or printed on each individual blister. Unlike bottles, blisters also make it immediately visible if medicines have been tampered with. However, the costs of child resistant blister packagings were high. That has now changed. With its versatile packaging solutions, Locked4Kids offers cost effective production of child resistant cartons to pack blisters.
